Their album 'Dopesmoker'—a single hour-long track—became legendary in metal circles. After their initial breakup, members formed High on Fire and Om. Sleep's reunion in the 2010s proved their continued relevance. Their influence on stoner rock, doom metal, and sludge was immense. Sleep represented heavy music at its most monumental and uncompromising.
