Shalamar were an American R&B and dance group formed in Los Angeles who achieved international success in the early 1980s. Hits including 'A Night to Remember,' 'I Can Make You Feel Good,' 'There It Is,' and 'Dead Giveaway' showcased their polished dance-pop sound. The group featured the talents of Howard Hewett, Jody Watley, and Jeffrey Daniel, whose body-popping dance moves influenced Michael Jackson. Shalamar's influence on R&B, dance music, and music video choreography was substantial. They represented early 1980s soul at its most sophisticated and danceable.
