Artist: Shadows
Genre: Instrumental Rock
The Shadows were a British instrumental rock group who became the most successful British act before The Beatles and the most influential British group in the development of British rock music. Originally Cliff Richard's backing band, they achieved phenomenal success with instrumentals including 'Apache,' 'Wonderful Land,' 'Kon-Tiki,' and 'Dance On!' Hank Marvin's distinctive Fender Stratocaster sound influenced countless guitarists including Mark Knopfler and The Edge. The Shadows had more UK chart hits than any other group. Their precision playing and memorable melodies created templates for instrumental rock worldwide. The Shadows represented British rock's professional craftsmanship before the 1960s revolution they helped inspire.
