Artist: Searchers
Genre: Rock/Beat
The Searchers were a British beat group from Liverpool who became one of the most successful acts of the Merseybeat era alongside The Beatles. Hits including 'Sweets for My Sweet,' 'Needles and Pins,' 'Don't Throw Your Love Away,' and 'When You Walk in the Room' showcased their jangly guitar sound and tight harmonies. Their influence on folk-rock and jangle pop, acknowledged by artists from The Byrds to R.E.M., was substantial. The Searchers represented Merseybeat's more melodic, accessible possibilities.
