Artist: Robert Schumann
Genre: Classical
Robert Schumann was a German composer and music critic whose deeply Romantic compositions rank among the 19th century's finest achievements. His piano works, including 'Carnaval,' 'Kinderszenen,' and 'Kreisleriana,' are central to the Romantic piano repertoire. His symphonies, chamber music, and songs (Lieder) demonstrate remarkable imagination and emotional depth. Schumann's work as a music critic championed composers including Chopin and Brahms. His struggle with mental illness, which ended his composing career, adds poignancy to his passionate music. Schumann represented Romanticism's most poetic musical expression.
