Rick Derringer is an American guitarist and producer who first achieved fame as a teenager with The McCoys, whose 'Hang On Sloopy' topped the charts. His subsequent work with Johnny Winter and Edgar Winter produced classic rock recordings. Derringer's solo hit 'Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo' became a rock radio staple. His production work for artists including Steely Dan and Cyndi Lauper extended his influence. Derringer represented rock guitar excellence across multiple decades and contexts.
