Randy Edelman is an American pianist, composer, and songwriter who achieved success both as a recording artist and as a film composer. His film scores include 'Ghostbusters II,' 'Kindergarten Cop,' 'Gettysburg,' and 'The Last of the Mohicans,' the latter's theme becoming widely recognized. Earlier, Edelman recorded as a singer-songwriter, and his songs were covered by various artists. His ability to create memorable, emotionally effective themes made him one of Hollywood's successful composers. Edelman represented the crossover between pop songwriting and orchestral film composition.
