The Ramones were an American punk rock band from Queens, New York, formed in 1974 who became one of the most influential rock bands in history. Their stripped-down, fast, loud approach—featuring simple chord progressions and songs rarely exceeding two minutes—created the template for punk rock. Classic songs including 'Blitzkrieg Bop,' 'I Wanna Be Sedated,' 'Sheena Is a Punk Rocker,' and 'Rockaway Beach' defined the genre. Despite limited commercial success during their career, the Ramones' influence was immeasurable, inspiring countless punk, alternative, and rock bands. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
