Queens of the Stone Age are an American rock band formed in Palm Desert, California, in 1996 by guitarist Josh Homme following the dissolution of Kyuss. Their music combines stoner rock heaviness with pop hooks, creating a distinctive sound Homme calls 'robot rock.' Albums including 'Rated R,' 'Songs for the Deaf,' and '...Like Clockwork' achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success. 'No One Knows' became a rock radio staple. The band's revolving lineup has included musicians from Foo Fighters, Screaming Trees, and other significant acts. Queens of the Stone Age's influence on 21st-century rock and their ability to balance heaviness with accessibility made them one of modern rock's most important bands.
