Artist: Peter Hammill
Genre: Progressive Rock
Peter Hammill is a British singer-songwriter who achieved prominence as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter of Van der Graaf Generator, one of progressive rock's most intense and innovative bands. His solo career, beginning in 1971, has produced over 30 albums exploring dark, introspective territory with uncompromising artistic vision. Hammill's dramatic vocal style and literary lyrics influenced artists from John Lydon to Marillion. His willingness to explore difficult emotional and musical terrain distinguished him from more commercially-minded contemporaries. Hammill represented progressive rock's most personal and challenging possibilities, maintaining artistic integrity across five decades.
