Artist: Pete Wylie
Genre: Post-Punk/Rock
Pete Wylie is a British singer-songwriter from Liverpool who led Wah! (under various names including Wah! Heat and The Mighty Wah!). Wylie's passionate, anthemic rock earned him a devoted following, particularly with 'The Story of the Blues.' His intense, emotional performances and ambitious songwriting represented Liverpool's post-punk contribution beyond Echo and the Bunnymen and Teardrop Explodes. Though commercial success proved elusive beyond cult status, Wylie's influence on subsequent Liverpool musicians and his demonstration of rock's emotional possibilities was notable.
