Pete Shelley was a British singer, songwriter, and guitarist who co-founded the Buzzcocks, one of the most influential bands of the punk era. His songwriting brought romantic themes to punk rock, creating classics like 'Ever Fallen in Love (With Someone You Shouldn't've)' and 'What Do I Get?' Shelley's solo career, particularly the electronic-influenced 'Homosapien,' demonstrated his range beyond punk. His intelligent, melodic approach to punk influenced countless subsequent bands. Shelley's death in 2018 was mourned throughout the music world as the loss of a genuine innovator who brought emotional sophistication to punk rock.
