Penetration were a British punk rock band from Ferryhill formed in 1976, fronted by vocalist Pauline Murray. Their debut album 'Moving Targets' and singles like 'Don't Dictate' earned them respect among punk enthusiasts. Murray's powerful vocals and the band's melodic punk approach distinguished them from more aggressive contemporaries. Penetration represented the Northeast of England's contribution to punk during the genre's initial explosion. Murray's subsequent solo career continued her exploration of post-punk territory.
