Paul Johnson was an American house music DJ and producer from Chicago whose track 'Get Get Down' became an international hit in 1999. His music represented Chicago house's characteristic sound—hypnotic rhythms, soulful vocals, and electronic production. Johnson's work influenced house music worldwide, and 'Get Get Down' achieved classic status. His continued work in Chicago house maintained the city's position as the genre's spiritual home. Johnson's death in 2021 was mourned throughout the electronic music community as the loss of a genuine house music pioneer. His influence on dance music extended globally.
