Artist: Paul Hardcastle
Genre: Electronic/Synth-Pop
Paul Hardcastle is a British musician and producer best known for his 1985 hit '19,' which addressed the psychological trauma of Vietnam War veterans and featured a distinctive vocal stutter effect. The song topped charts across Europe and raised awareness of post-traumatic stress disorder. Hardcastle's subsequent career included smooth jazz recordings under the name 'The Jazzmasters' and production work for other artists. His pioneering use of sampling and electronic production techniques influenced subsequent dance and electronic music. '19' remains one of the most distinctive political pop songs of the 1980s.
