Artist: Orange Juice
Genre: Post-Punk/Indie Pop
Orange Juice were a Scottish post-punk band from Glasgow, led by Edwyn Collins, who became pioneers of the indie pop movement. Their jangly guitars, witty lyrics, and DIY approach on the Postcard Records label helped establish Scottish independent music. Their biggest hit, 'Rip It Up,' showcased their blend of post-punk attitude with pop sensibility. Albums like 'You Can't Hide Your Love Forever' influenced countless subsequent indie bands. Orange Juice's sophisticated yet accessible sound demonstrated that indie music could be both artistically credible and catchy. Collins later achieved solo success with 'A Girl Like You.' Orange Juice's influence on British indie pop was foundational and enduring.
