Nick Lowe is a British singer-songwriter, musician, and producer whose influence on rock music extends far beyond his chart success. As a producer, he helmed classic albums by Elvis Costello, The Damned, and others. His songwriting produced classics including 'Cruel to Be Kind' and '(What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding.' Lowe's work combined pub rock energy with power pop craftsmanship and, later, sophisticated Americana influences. His production of 'My Aim Is True' helped launch Elvis Costello's career. In later years, Lowe developed a more reflective style earning critical acclaim. His influence on British rock, particularly the pub rock to punk transition, was substantial. Lowe represented rock's literate, witty possibilities.
