Artist: Nice
Genre: Progressive Rock
The Nice were a British progressive rock band formed in 1967, featuring Keith Emerson on keyboards. They were pioneers in blending rock with classical music, with Emerson's virtuosic performances on Hammond organ and piano creating a template for progressive rock. Their renditions of classical pieces, including Leonard Bernstein's 'America' from 'West Side Story,' brought orchestral music to rock audiences. Albums like 'The Thoughts of Emerlist Davjack' and 'Five Bridges' demonstrated their ambitious approach. The Nice disbanded in 1970 when Emerson formed Emerson, Lake & Palmer, but their influence on progressive rock's development was substantial. They represented the first flowering of classical-rock fusion.
