Neoton Família (Newton Family) were a Hungarian pop group who achieved success in the late 1970s and 1980s, particularly in Eastern Europe and Japan. Their polished disco and pop sound earned them international recognition unusual for Eastern Bloc artists during the era. Songs like 'Santa Maria' achieved popularity across linguistic barriers. The group represented Hungary's contribution to international pop music during a period when Cold War divisions typically limited Eastern European artists' reach. Their success demonstrated that quality pop could transcend political boundaries.
