New Fast Automatic Daffodils (also known as New FADs) were a British alternative rock band from Manchester who emerged during the 'Madchester' scene of the late 1980s. Their sound combined indie rock with dance beats and funk influences characteristic of the era. Though overshadowed by more famous Manchester contemporaries, the band earned critical respect and a devoted following. Their music represented the diversity of the Manchester scene beyond its most celebrated acts. New Fast Automatic Daffodils demonstrated that the city's musical explosion included bands exploring various approaches to the indie-dance crossover sound.
