Mudhoney are an American rock band from Seattle who were pioneers of the grunge movement. Formed in 1988 from the ashes of Green River, they released the landmark 'Superfuzz Bigmuff' EP that helped define the grunge sound before Nirvana's breakthrough. Their raw, distorted guitars and punk energy influenced the Seattle scene that would soon dominate rock music. Unlike some contemporaries, Mudhoney maintained their underground credibility by staying on Sub Pop Records. Their 1991 album 'Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge' showcased their garage rock roots. Mudhoney's refusal to compromise their sound for commercial success earned them respect as authentic representatives of the Seattle scene. They continued recording and touring, regarded as grunge's most consistent survivors.
