Artist: Move
Genre: Psychedelic Rock
The Move were a British rock band from Birmingham who achieved success in the 1960s and early 1970s before evolving into the Electric Light Orchestra. Their psychedelic pop hits, including 'Night of Fear,' 'Flowers in the Rain,' and 'Blackberry Way,' showcased Roy Wood's songwriting abilities. The band's theatrical performances, managed by Tony Secunda, often generated controversy. 'Flowers in the Rain' was the first song played on BBC Radio 1. The Move represented British psychedelia's more commercial, pop-oriented wing while maintaining artistic ambition. Wood and Jeff Lynne's later work with ELO built on foundations established in The Move's increasingly orchestral later recordings.
