Artist: Men At Work
Genre: New Wave/Pop Rock
Men at Work were an Australian rock band formed in Melbourne in 1978 who achieved international success with their distinctive blend of new wave, pop, and world music influences. Their debut album 'Business as Usual' topped charts worldwide, producing hits 'Down Under' and 'Who Can It Be Now?' 'Down Under,' with its Australian cultural references and flute hook, became an unofficial national anthem. The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 1983. Though their commercial peak was brief, Men at Work's influence on Australian rock and their demonstration that antipodean artists could achieve global success was significant. 'Down Under' remains one of the 1980s' most recognizable songs.
