Artist: Mc5
Genre: Proto-Punk/Rock
MC5 (Motor City Five) were an American rock band from Lincoln Park, Michigan, whose raw, politically charged music helped lay the groundwork for punk rock. Their 1969 debut album 'Kick Out the Jams' captured their explosive live energy, with its title track becoming a rock anthem. The band's association with radical politics, particularly the White Panther Party, made them one of rock's most controversial acts. Though commercial success proved elusive, MC5's influence on punk, garage rock, and alternative music was immense. The Clash, The Damned, and countless subsequent bands cited them as crucial influences. MC5 represented rock's revolutionary potential during a turbulent era.
