Artist: Mary Hopkin
Genre: Folk Pop

Mary Hopkin is a Welsh singer who achieved international fame in 1968 with 'Those Were the Days,' released on The Beatles' Apple Records and produced by Paul McCartney. The nostalgic song became a worldwide hit, topping charts in numerous countries. Her follow-up 'Goodbye,' also written by McCartney, continued her success. Hopkin represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1970 with 'Knock, Knock Who's There,' finishing second. Her pure, clear voice suited the folk-influenced pop of the era. Though she largely withdrew from the music industry to raise her family, Hopkin's crystalline vocals on 'Those Were the Days' ensured her lasting place in 1960s pop history. She has occasionally returned to recording, maintaining a devoted following.
