Artist: Manfred Mann
Genre: Rock/Pop
Manfred Mann was a British rock band led by keyboardist Manfred Mann that achieved significant success in the 1960s as part of the British Invasion. Their hits included 'Do Wah Diddy Diddy,' '5-4-3-2-1,' 'Pretty Flamingo,' and 'The Mighty Quinn.' The band was known for their ability to successfully interpret other writers' songs, particularly Bob Dylan compositions. After the original band dissolved, Mann formed Manfred Mann's Earth Band, which achieved further success with a progressive rock sound and hits like 'Blinded by the Light' (a Bruce Springsteen cover) and 'Davy's on the Road Again.' Mann's keyboard skills and ear for commercial potential, combined with artistic credibility, made both incarnations successful across changing musical eras.
