Artist: Magna Carta
Genre: Folk Rock
Magna Carta are a British folk rock group formed in 1969 who combined traditional folk influences with contemporary rock elements. Their music featured acoustic guitars, harmonies, and pastoral themes characteristic of the British folk-rock movement. Albums like 'Seasons' and 'Songs from Wasties Orchard' showcased their melodic songwriting and accomplished musicianship. The band contributed to the development of progressive folk alongside contemporaries like Fairport Convention and Pentangle. Despite numerous lineup changes across decades, Magna Carta maintained their commitment to quality acoustic music. Their influence on the British folk-rock tradition extended through their recordings and continued live performances. Magna Carta represented the gentler, more pastoral side of early 1970s British progressive music.
