Artist: Love
Genre: Psychedelic Rock
Love was an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1965, led by Arthur Lee. They became one of the most acclaimed bands of the psychedelic era, though commercial success proved elusive. Their 1967 album 'Forever Changes' is regularly cited as one of the greatest albums ever made, combining folk rock, psychedelia, and orchestral arrangements with Lee's introspective, often dark lyrics. Earlier albums 'Love' and 'Da Capo' established their reputation on the Sunset Strip scene. Lee's reluctance to tour limited their exposure, but their influence on subsequent alternative and indie rock has been substantial. 'Forever Changes' in particular inspired generations of musicians who discovered its sophisticated beauty. Love represented psychedelia's most artistically ambitious and underappreciated achievements.
