Liner were a British synth-pop band who contributed to the electronic pop scene of the 1980s. Their music reflected the synthesizer-based pop that dominated the era, featuring electronic production and contemporary arrangement styles. Like many synth-pop acts, Liner emerged during a period when new technology enabled new sounds and new artists to achieve chart success. They represented the breadth of electronic pop during synth-pop's commercial peak, when numerous acts explored similar sonic territory with varying degrees of commercial success.
