Artist: Linda Ronstadt
Genre: Rock/Country
Linda Ronstadt is an American singer whose versatile voice and adventurous repertoire made her one of the most successful female rock artists of the 1970s and 1980s. Her hits spanned rock ('You're No Good'), country ('Blue Bayou'), new wave ('How Do I Make You'), and traditional pop standards. Albums like 'Heart Like a Wheel' and 'Simple Dreams' achieved multi-platinum success. Ronstadt's collaborations ranged from The Eagles to Nelson Riddle's orchestra to Mexican folk music with 'Canciones de Mi Padre.' Her willingness to explore diverse genres demonstrated that commercial success needn't require artistic limitation. Parkinson's disease ended her performing career, but her influence on female rock vocalists and her stylistically adventurous discography remain her lasting legacy.
