Leftfield are a British electronic music duo consisting of Neil Barnes and Paul Daley (who departed in 2002) whose albums 'Leftism' and 'Rhythm and Stealth' became landmarks of 1990s electronic music. Their sound combined progressive house, dub, and various dance music influences into an immersive, powerful whole. Tracks like 'Open Up' (featuring John Lydon) and 'Phat Planet' achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success. Their live performances brought electronic music to rock festival audiences with unprecedented power. After a lengthy hiatus, Barnes revived Leftfield for live performances and the album 'Alternative Light Source.' Leftfield's influence on electronic music, particularly their demonstration of how dance music could work in album and concert contexts, was substantial.
