Artist: Laibach
Genre: Industrial
Laibach is a Slovenian avant-garde group, one of the most provocative and influential acts in industrial and electronic music. Formed in 1980 in the former Yugoslavia, they are part of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) art collective. Their confrontational appropriation of totalitarian imagery and their conceptual approach to music challenge audiences to examine political ideology and mass culture. Laibach's covers of songs ranging from 'Life Is Life' to the entire 'Let It Be' album recontextualize familiar material. Their 2015 concerts in North Korea demonstrated their unique ability to operate in impossible contexts. Laibach's influence on industrial music and their ongoing artistic project make them one of the most intellectually stimulating acts in contemporary music.
