Artist: L7
Genre: Grunge/Alternative Rock
L7 are an American rock band from Los Angeles who became one of the most prominent all-female bands of the early 1990s grunge era. Their heavy, aggressive sound and confrontational attitude earned them respect alongside male contemporaries. The hit 'Pretend We're Dead' brought them mainstream exposure, while albums like 'Bricks Are Heavy' demonstrated their ability to combine heaviness with hooks. L7 co-founded Rock for Choice, organizing benefit concerts for abortion rights. Their refusal to be categorized as a 'girl band' and their musical authenticity challenged gender expectations in rock. After a hiatus, L7 reunited in 2014, proving their continued relevance. Their influence on subsequent female rock musicians has been substantial.
