Kym Mazelle is an American singer who became known as the 'First Lady of House Music' for her pioneering work in the genre. Her powerful voice graced numerous house classics, including 'Useless (I Don't Need You Now)' and collaborations with artists like Soul II Soul and Robert Howard. Mazelle's ability to bring genuine soul to electronic productions helped establish the template for house divas. Her work demonstrated that house music could incorporate authentic R&B vocal power, not just samples. Based in the UK for much of her career, Mazelle influenced the development of British house and dance music. Her voice has appeared on countless dance tracks, and she continues to represent the soulful side of house music.
