King were a British pop band from Coventry who achieved success in the mid-1980s with their sophisticated blend of pop, soul, and new wave influences. Their biggest hit, 'Love & Pride,' reached the Top 10 in multiple countries, showcasing lead singer Paul King's distinctive voice and the band's polished production. The band's stylish image and catchy songs made them MTV favorites. Other hits included 'Alone Without You' and 'The Taste of Your Tears.' Paul King later became a successful VH1 presenter. Though their commercial success was relatively brief, King represented the sophisticated, soul-influenced end of 1980s British pop. 'Love & Pride' remains a nostalgic favorite that captures the era's style perfectly.
