He discovered and named Genesis, produced Bay City Rollers' early recordings, and had hits under his own name including 'Everyone's Gone to the Moon.' King's approach embraced novelty and commerciality, often creating deliberately catchy, lightweight pop. He was known for recording under numerous pseudonyms, creating hits under different names. His production and A&R work brought many successful artists to public attention.
