Artist: Jimmy Reed
Genre: Blues
Jimmy Reed was an American blues guitarist, harmonica player, and singer whose relaxed, accessible style made him one of the most commercially successful blues artists of the 1950s and 1960s. His hits, including 'Big Boss Man,' 'Bright Lights, Big City,' and 'Baby What You Want Me to Do,' influenced countless rock and blues musicians. Reed's easygoing approach, featuring simple guitar riffs and lazy harmonica, proved enormously influential on early rock and roll. The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presley, and numerous others covered his songs. Despite personal struggles with alcoholism, Reed maintained his musical career for decades. His influence on blues and rock, particularly his demonstration of how accessible blues could be, remains fundamental.
