Jermaine Jackson is an American singer, songwriter, and bass guitarist who achieved fame as a member of The Jackson 5 and later as a solo artist. His smooth tenor voice provided key harmonies in the Jackson 5's classic Motown recordings. When the family moved to Epic Records, Jermaine initially stayed at Motown, where he was married to Berry Gordy's daughter. His solo hits included 'Let's Get Serious,' 'Do What You Do,' and the duet with Whitney Houston, 'Take Good Care of You and Me.' Jermaine later rejoined his brothers for the Victory Tour and subsequent Jacksons projects. His career demonstrated both the opportunities and challenges of operating within pop music's most famous family while establishing his own artistic identity.
