Jeff Wayne is an American-born, British-based composer and musician best known for his 1978 rock opera 'Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds.' The album, featuring narration by Richard Burton and performances by Justin Hayward, David Essex, and others, became one of the best-selling albums in UK chart history. Its combination of progressive rock, orchestral arrangements, and H.G. Wells' science fiction narrative created a unique listening experience. Wayne's production created genuinely dramatic music that brought the story to life. The album's popularity led to spectacular arena tours featuring holographic performances. 'The War of the Worlds' remains Wayne's defining achievement and one of progressive rock's most successful concept albums.
