Genre: Easy Listening/Orchestral
James Last was a German composer, bandleader, and arranger who became one of the world's most commercially successful big band leaders. His 'happy sound'—a distinctive blend of orchestral arrangements with contemporary pop songs—sold over 200 million albums worldwide. Last's albums offered accessible versions of popular songs and classical pieces, appealing to audiences seeking pleasant, undemanding music. His band toured extensively, and his concerts were celebrations of joyful, unpretentious music-making. Last recorded over 200 albums covering virtually every popular music style, from Beatles songs to disco to folk melodies. Last remained active until shortly before his death in 2015.
