James Ingram was an American R&B singer, songwriter, and producer whose powerful, emotional voice made him one of the most successful male vocalists of the 1980s. His hits, including 'One Hundred Ways,' 'Just Once,' 'Baby, Come to Me' (with Patti Austin), and 'I Don't Have the Heart,' showcased his ability to convey deep emotion through polished production. Ingram won two Grammy Awards and was nominated for multiple Academy Awards for his songwriting. His collaborations with Quincy Jones, Michael McDonald, and numerous other artists demonstrated his versatility. Ingram's influence on contemporary R&B, particularly the male balladeer tradition, was substantial. His voice remains one of the most distinctive in R&B history.
