Jack Greene was an American country music singer and guitarist who achieved his greatest success in the 1960s. His biggest hit, 'There Goes My Everything,' topped the country charts and crossed over to pop success, winning the CMA Award for Single of the Year. Greene's smooth baritone voice and traditional country style earned him the nickname 'Jolly Giant' (in contrast to the more common 'Gentle Giant' given to large, soft-spoken performers). He was a member of the Grand Ole Opry for over 50 years. Greene's success represented the Nashville Sound era when country music sought broader audiences through sophisticated production. His recordings remain beloved by traditional country fans.
