Genre: Synth-Pop
It's Immaterial were a British synth-pop duo from Liverpool consisting of John Campbell and Jarvis Whitehead. Active during the mid-1980s, they achieved their biggest success with 'Driving Away from Home (Jim's Tune),' which reached the UK Top 20 in 1986. Their sound combined atmospheric synthesizers with thoughtful, narrative-driven lyrics that distinguished them from more straightforward pop acts. The band's approach reflected Liverpool's tradition of literate, melodic pop while embracing contemporary electronic production. Though they never replicated their initial chart success, It's Immaterial maintained a cult following among fans of intelligent 1980s pop. Their music represented the more thoughtful end of mid-1980s British synth-pop.
