Artist: Inspiral Carpets
Genre: Madchester/Alternative Rock
Inspiral Carpets were a British rock band from Oldham who became key figures in the late 1980s Madchester scene. Their swirling Farfisa organ sound, provided by Clint Boon, gave them a distinctive psychedelic edge that set them apart from contemporaries. Hits like 'This Is How It Feels,' 'She Comes in the Fall,' and 'Dragging Me Down' showcased their ability to combine 1960s influences with contemporary indie rock energy. The band's 'Cool as Fuck' cow logo became an iconic image of the era. Notably, a young Noel Gallagher served as their roadie before forming Oasis. Though they never achieved the commercial heights of some Madchester peers, Inspiral Carpets maintained a devoted following and their influence on British indie rock endures. The band reformed for successful reunion tours in the 2010s.
