Incantation is a British musical ensemble specializing in Andean and South American folk music. The group became known for bringing the sounds of pan pipes, charangos, and other traditional Andean instruments to mainstream Western audiences. Their albums featuring traditional and original compositions in the Andean style achieved considerable commercial success, particularly in the new age and world music markets. Incantation helped popularize South American folk music in Europe during the 1980s and 1990s, introducing many listeners to the haunting beauty of Andean musical traditions. Their accessible approach made traditional sounds palatable to mainstream audiences while maintaining respect for the source material. The group represented the growing interest in world music that characterized the period.
