In Tua Nua were an Irish rock band formed in Dublin in 1982 who combined traditional Irish elements with contemporary rock. The band featured future Cranberries producer and collaborator Leslie Dowdall on vocals during their early period. Their albums blended Celtic influences with 1980s rock production, anticipating the Celtic rock fusion that bands like The Cranberries and The Corrs would later commercialize. In Tua Nua achieved moderate success in Ireland and built a following through their energetic live performances. Though they disbanded without achieving international breakthrough, they represented an important development in Irish rock music's incorporation of traditional elements. Their approach influenced subsequent Irish artists who sought to combine heritage with contemporary rock sounds.
