Imagination were a British R&B and synth-funk trio who became one of the most successful British soul acts of the early 1980s. The group, featuring the flamboyant lead vocalist Leee John, achieved hits with 'Body Talk,' 'Just an Illusion,' 'Music and Lights,' and 'Flashback.' Their sound combined electronic production with funk grooves and Leee John's distinctive falsetto vocals. Imagination's visual presentation, featuring Leee John's exotic costumes and choreographed performances, made them stars of the emerging music video era. Their influence on British R&B and electronic soul was significant, helping establish that British artists could compete with American R&B acts. Leee John continued performing as Imagination, maintaining the group's legacy on the retro soul circuit.
