Ian Partridge is a British tenor who became one of the most distinguished singers in English song and Baroque music. His clear, sweet tone and intelligent musicianship made him an ideal interpreter of English art song, particularly the works of Britten, Vaughan Williams, and earlier English composers. Partridge's extensive discography includes landmark recordings of English song cycles and oratorio performances. His partnership with his sister, pianist Jennifer Partridge, produced numerous acclaimed recital recordings. Ian Partridge received the CBE for his services to music and continued teaching after his performing career. His influence on subsequent generations of English singers and his recordings of English song remain his enduring legacy.
