H.P. Lovecraft was an American psychedelic rock band formed in Chicago in 1967, named after the horror fiction author. The band's sound combined psychedelic rock with folk influences and literary pretensions befitting their namesake. Their self-titled debut album featured a notable cover of 'The White Ship,' based on a Lovecraft story, and demonstrated their ability to create atmospheric, intelligent psychedelia. H.P. Lovecraft were part of the vibrant late 1960s American psychedelic scene, offering a darker, more literary alternative to San Francisco flower power. The band went through various lineup changes and continued as Lovecraft. Their influence on subsequent gothic and psychedelic rock, particularly bands drawn to dark literary themes, established them as cult favorites among psychedelia enthusiasts.

The sleeve shows just a little discolouration/wear at the flipbacks with some shelfwear to the spine and front of the sleeve and the vinyl appears VG with just a couple of very faint hairlines and no real sign of spindle wear on the label
