Hot Snakes are an American rock band formed in San Diego in 1999 by John Reis and Rick Froberg, both formerly of the influential post-hardcore band Drive Like Jehu. The band's sound combines the intensity of hardcore punk with the sophistication of post-punk, creating aggressive yet melodically rich rock music. Albums like 'Automatic Midnight,' 'Suicide Invoice,' and 'Audit in Progress' earned critical acclaim for their uncompromising energy and tight musicianship. Hot Snakes became cult favorites among fans of aggressive rock, maintaining the legacy of their earlier bands while pushing forward. After a hiatus, the band reformed in 2011, demonstrating their continued relevance. Hot Snakes represent the intelligent, artistic end of American punk-derived rock.
